Eamon began his love affair with photography
in 1994 while living in Beijing, China. A student of culture and
art, he was mesmerized by Beijing as a city undergoing tremendous
physical and social change. Beijing afforded Eamon the opportunity
to record a visual anthropological study of a people and city in
transition.
After leaving China in 1995, Eamon
continued his study of art, culture and photography while living
on the east coast and Japan. In Japan, he studied ceramics from
venerable masters while continuing to develop his skills in photography.
In 2004, Eamon was awarded a grant from the University of Hawaii
to return to Japan to create a photographic study of the ceramic
masters and their art.
Having moved to Honolulu in 2001 to
attend the University of Hawaii at Manoa, Eamon became involved
in photo journalism and photo editing while working with the student
newspaper. In 2002 he was recognized by the Hawaii Board of Publications
for excellence in news and feature photography. Since graduating
in 2003, Eamon has worked as a free-lance photographer shooting
news, sporting events, dance and weddings.
As a wedding and special event photographer,
Eamons style is intimate and artistic. His long intense study
of "people as subjects" make each shoot unique and personal.
He has the ability to allow his subjects to forget the camera and
live, instead, for the moment.
